They’re alive!
Delicate Riesling buds survive so far! More fun tomorrow morning, with temperatures dipping, for sure. Winds are brisk now (to say the least–up to 40 mph), which would prevent frost, but winds are scheduled to die down by morning. With the dry weather, no open fires are allowed, and should not be. So the best we can come up with is to use Big Bertha and contained propane heaters.
Getting ready for the Big Chill
Jake: Can’t wait for more fun!
More events coming! Next up, Easter Sunday (4-8-12), 1-5 PM!
Music, fun, and activities! Bring the family and a picnic!
I’m all excited, but as you can see, I’m pretty laid back, waiting for our first big event SOLREVOLT, and Jerald’s Smokehouse BarBQ–yum! I’m the official greeter, so I’ll be looking for you!

Jake’s Journal– a Dog’s Blog
Jake here– Such a nice Winter Day, think I’ll take a few minutes to share the goings on at the vineyard….but first, look at what I was left out of..
Some of our fine folks decided to visit the Virginia Veterans’ Care Center with their dogs, Maggie and Kodi. Don’t know why they didn’t bring me– maybe it is because I am SO big and might scare people.
Maggie got to talk with a very famous gentleman who trained dogs when he was in the Air Force. Boy, did he ever like Maggie–think it was that party collar she had on!
Roanoke Outdoors at Blue Ridge Vineyard
Roanoke Outdoors is always welcome at Soup ‘n Sip Sundays. We’ll have lots of mapped trails for hiking, Geocaching and Scavenger Hunt events for everyone in the Spring…can’t wait!
