Judi Jackson was born and raised in Roanoke , Virginia . She started singing in community events and churches around the age of 8. Upon starting Patrick Henry High School in 2007, she was introduced to one of Roanoke ‘s finest musicians, Cyrus Pace. Cyrus worked with Judi in the PH Jazz Ensemble class, and eventually she branched out and started singing around the town with Cyrus and his brother James Pace. After getting this experience under her belt she formed three groups of her own: Groovuhtationall Pull, The Judi Jackson Trio, and her most recent project with Hoppie Vaughn and the Music Lab, Judi and the Giants. Through the Music Lab and Jefferson Center , Judi has been blessed to meet Wynton Marsalis, sing with Snarky Puppy and open for Mavis Staples. Judi’s style of music covers a wide variety of genres from Jazz to soul and even Funk. The Judi Jackson Trio is a Jazz group that plays classic tunes along with some originals that are sure to mellow your mood. Judi’s band members are both young talented musicians that are bound to go far as they pursue their musical interests in life. Willis Greenstreet( Cave Spring High, Guitar) is not only a talented guitarists but also has amazing sax chops as well. Alex Bingham(Patrick Henry High, Bass) has been in every group with Judi since the beginning of her career and is a phenomenal musician that will attend the UNCG school of music in the Fall. On May 25, Judi Jackson will release her first album with “Judi and the Giants” (a group including Willis G., Alex B., and three other very talented musicians), at the Kirk Ave. Music Hall.
